Jon Sax, founder and head coach of USAW Club Sweep the Sheds Weightlifting and Performance

Meet Our Coaches

Jon Sax

Founder and Head Coach

I started Sweep the Sheds because I love training, helping athletes reach their goals, and partaking in a culture where everyone is excited to be. I am a competitive Olympic Weightlifter myself and am happy to spend all day watching folks Snatch, Clean & Jerk, and train for athleticism to improve in their sport. There were zero dedicated Weightlifting clubs in the area where lifters can practice their sport under a coach, with the right equipment, and around other lifters. Additionally, with all of the aspiring athletes in the area, I saw a need for a highly knowledgeable coach to teach athletes how to train for their sport while providing first-class leadership within a no nonsense training environment. Because of my many years as a championship winning college lacrosse coach, two-time national championship winning player, and having trained under multiple international level Weightlifting coaches, I understand well what athletes need out of a coach. In the same way that the sport coach is there to teach the game and guide athletes towards success, I teach proper strength and conditioning training and provide mentorship as athletes develop.

What really separates STS is our culture. In a world of intimidating gym spaces and hard-to-relate-to members and coaches, STS is a place where people feel valued, included, and safe to pursue the best version of themselves. Because athletic success has been important to me all my life, I created the type of culture and athletic development program that I'd want to be a part of. At STS, we value relationships, expertly coach to get results, and provide an environment that fosters enthusiasm for training. If you have a genuine volition to improve, want to be around great people, and are willing to contribute to a TEAM dynamic, you will find a home at Sweep the Sheds.

EMMA DORSHIMER

DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS & ASSISTANT Coach

I joined Sweep the Sheds because I have a passion for strength training, youth development, and empowering athletes to reach their goals and grow their confidence. My background lies in college athletics where I was an All-American basketball player at Gettysburg College. At Gettysburg, I finished my career as the 2nd all time leading scorer, scoring 1683 points and serving as a 3-year captain. It was also where I discovered my love for strength training, as it grew my confidence and contributed significantly to my success and safety as an athlete. I am passionate about youth athletes taking advantage of strength training to improve their sport! It is truly something I wish I knew about as a child and had taken advantage of. Sweep the Sheds is not just a gym, but a welcoming space where athletes can grow their confidence, learn to move better, and improve their sports performance, all while training in an encouraging environment where we cheer each other on. I am excited to build relationships with our athletes and help them achieve incredible results! In my spare time, you can catch me teaching yoga classes, reading, or baking delicious treats.

ADDISON CLAYTON

ASSISTANT Coach

Hi everyone, my name is Addi! I'm so excited to work with all of you! I've always been an animated person, and I absolutely love the color purple. Sports have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I played soccer, volleyball, basketball, and golf, but when I was about twelve or thirteen, my mom introduced me to Olympic Weightlifting—and I've been hooked ever since!

I began my Olympic Weightlifting journey at Alpha Barbell in Auburn, Washington, and continued to develop my skills through college with the Lindenwood Weightlifting Team in St. Charles, Missouri. I’ve had the privilege of training in both a club environment and as part of a larger team, which has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Throughout my time in the sport, I’ve competed at nationals both as an individual and as part of a team, which has allowed me to grow both as an athlete and as a person.

What I love most about Olympic Weightlifting is the camaraderie and the opportunity to support and cheer for my teammates. The mental confidence and joy we give each other are what make the sport so special. Now, I’m thrilled to be transitioning into coaching, where I can carry these values forward and help create an environment built on love, grit, and positivity. I can’t wait to work with all of you and develop a vibrant, empowering culture together!
